Lions 0 v 1 MBDA
This was the last PSF before the start of the new season next week. The starting eleven saw a debut for Stefan McNeeley in goal; Jordan, Ian , Fildes, A.Jeffries, Harrison, Turkentine, D.Jeffries, P.Farr, Burnage and Canning. Lions started well with composed passing through the midfield. MBDA came back on counter attacks with long balls behind the Lions fullbacks. Lions had several chances with shots from Danny Jeffries and Ian Canning. The keeper also tipping a Harrison header over the bar. Some quick thinking reactions from the Lions keeper to deny MBDA attackers meant that the score was nil nil at half time. Lions started the second half in much the same way but MBDA had tightened up. Another counter attack saw a sweeping crossfield pass to the MBDA Number 3 on the right wing who shot at the right time to score in the far corner, pass the outcoming keeper. Lions stepped up the pressure with Turkentine and Burnage pushing on. Lions made some changes to try and get the equaliser. Graham Crisp on for Harrison, Gardner and Joe Farr on for Pete Farr and Pete Jordan. Again Danny Jeffries and Ian Canning had some great chances as well as a Gardner overhead kick. It was a game that Lions felt they didn't deserve to lose. However it was a settled performance particularly against a team from a higher division, and with some key players still to come back into the squad. (Sub not used D.Farr)
