The first Pre-Season game saw the long awaited debut for our new striker
John Harvey, we lined up with a cameo performance from Goalkeeper Ross Towler, Steve Farr, Graham & Ben at the back, Maggot, Andy F, DD, Turk & Ian C with John & DJ leading the strike
force.
We had a less than perfect start to the match, we did our usual playing nice flowing
football and missed a couple of chances only to be hit on the break 3 times
within the first half hour.
Lilley had 3 shots in the first half and scored all three, the first from a
dubious free kick which Ross managed to get a hand to but could not keep
out, the second a mistake by Ben with Ross way out of goal presented them
with a sweet lob and the third from a counter attack.
During this mad spell there were lots of positives, our first goal started with a
long pass forward from Steve to DJ who controlled it took 2 players on and
released it to DD who carved open their defence with a superb pass to John
Harvey, a quick control and turn opened up for a cross which was met by DJ
for a superb volley into the bottom corner.
In our defence we played some lovely football but were unable to capitalise
on our chances with both John and Ian C going close.
A complete change in personnel for the second half saw a line up of Ross,
Ian A, trialist Ian and Wiggy at the back a midfield of Burnage, Turk,
DJ, Chris Squires and 2 Pint Pete with Wayne and Rob up front.
The second half stated the same as the first quick counter attacks, a strike
from outside the area by Burnage produced a goal from nothing to make it 3-2
but within a couple of minutes the very quiet second half team were opened
up and lilley took full advantage making it 4-2.
Luckily for Breachwood, Lilley began to tire and the counter attacks became
less frequent but it was not long before it was 5-2 before Chris Squires
scored a superb lob from outside the area.
Lilley finished off the game with another counter attack which gave the
lilley striker time to bring the ball down in the area change from one foot
to the next and then pick his spot in the bottom corner.
All in all a work out for most players
Looking forward to Bar Absolute(Hitchin Blues) on Sunday
