Stevenage Colts Old Boys 0 v 9 Lion's

After the disappointment of losing the first game of the season last week to Pin Green one nil, Breachwood Lion's roared back with a convincing display at Shephallbury Park against the Colts.

Lion's starting eleven: Gardner, A.Jefferies, French, Fildes, Bushey,Burnage, Painter, Dye(C), Crisp, Canning, D.Jefferies. Ref D.Wisson

Lion's got off to a good start with Ian Canning having several early shots on goal. The first goal eventually came when the ball broke to Danny Jefferies at the edge of the box and drilled the ball home off the underside of the crossbar.

The Lion's midfield kept a compact shape with Dye, Crisp and Bushey eager to challenge for every ball. Bushey scored his first goal for the club with a majestic strike from the right into the far top corner of the net.

Danny Jefferies was on the end of a flowing move with Burnage and Painter involved, but was brought down before he could pull the trigger.
Up stepped a cool Ian Canning to strike home the penalty for deserved goal.

Lions kept up the pressure with Fildes and Adam Jefferies support the attack play from defence. French's no nonsense approach kept any Colt's attack at bay.

Danny Jefferies playing in a more forward role was involved in most of the Lion's attacks. With a great assist from Burnage Jefferies didn't take long to complete his hatrick in the second half, slotting home two well take goals though he could of had a fourth with a free header at the far post.

Pete Farr replaced Steve Painter, who had great game down the left. It didn't take long before Farr pounced on a through ball to add his name to the score sheet.

Mark Harris replaced the injured and battling Graham Crisp and was in the right place at the right time when the ball came back off the crossbar to head home from close range.

Ben Marlow replaced a battered Adam Burnage with fifteen minutes to go.

Lion's Captain Danny Dye encapsulated the win with a second half double after twice outwitting the Colts offside trap.

The Colt's tried hard for a consolation goal but Gardner's determination ensured he kept a clean sheet.

Final score nine nil to the Lion's.
