Breachwood started off with the most attacking threat. Danny Jefferies, tested the Celtic keeper early on from range. Defensively the Lion's seemed assured with a new central partnership of French and Painter. Pete Farr gave Pearson the ammunition to attack down the left wing into space.
However Stevenage Celtic soon looked the most likely team to score as they took advantage of Peartree five's sloping pitch with a succession of corners and free kicks. It was the Lion's defensive teamwork that ensured the scoreline was still level at half time.
Nil Nil at half time.
With the change round at half time, Lion's felt with they now had the advantage attacking with the sloping pitch.
Marlow's pace helped to link the play into the Lion's midfield on a very muddy pitch.
Ian Canning's and dogged determination linked with Dye's movement and Burnage's excellent running on the right wing gave the Lion's the attacking momentum they needed.
Midway through the second half, the Lion's got the breakthrough they needed using route one football. Gardner's big goal kick took advantage of the wind direction to reach well inside the Celtic half. Danny Jefferies anticipated Harrison's headed flick on into space to cut through the Celtic defence with a run into the penalty area and beat the keeper with a side foot shot into the bottom right corner of the net.
Wayne Gardner pulled off a string of excellent saves to keep the Lion's in front as Celtic pushed to get a late equaliser.
David Farr replaced Rob Pearson as Breachwood look to secure the three points at one nil.
Many thanks to our travelling supporters including: The Jefferies, Steve Marlow and the injured Andy Fildes, Ali Colins and John Harvey
