So another season ends for the Lion's with the disappointment of losing a Cup Final. All that is left is to find out the Player's player, Manager's player, Captain's player, and the most improved player which I'm sure will be revealed at an end of the season bash in early June, and probably not that long before pre season starts for next season :)
Although this year's top goalscorer is Ali Collins with 21 goals in all competitions. Adam Burnage was second in the goal scoring stakes with 19 goals. Interestingly both players were level with 13 league goals each.
The Lion's have enjoyed relative success in recent season's being Divisional Cup Finalists four seasons on the trot and winning the Double three season's ago, success has become expected and so losing two cup finals and feeling "could of done a bit better" in challenging for the title in the last two season's feels disappointing.
However it is true to say not only have the Lion's consolidated we also made progress last season.
The lads went further in the KLM and the Herts County Cup that they had ever done in previous seasons.
In the 2004/05 season the Lion's finished 3rd in Division 2 with 33 points and a goal difference of 34 after 18 games, with 9 wins, 3 losses and 6 draws.
Whilst in the recent 2005/06 season we finished 3rd again,we improved our stats, gaining a further 6 points totalling 39 points with a positive goal difference of 41 goals after winning 13 games and losing 5 and no draws after 18 games.
