Lion's starting eleven: Gardner, P.Farr, Fildes, French, Dye(C), Bushey, Burnage, Weeks, Canning, D.Jefferies, Harvey
Ref: D.Hucker
It was a scrappy start to the game at Chells Park. Pete Farr and Graham French defended well as the Lion's tried to find their normal passing rhythm on a narrow pitch.
Breachwood got the breakthrough they needed when Danny Jefferies pass out of midfield found Ian Canning advancing down the left wing. His early cross found John Harvey arriving in the box in time to score his first goal of the season.
Hogshead battled for the equaliser but Gardner easily dealt with their efforts on goal.
The equaliser came after a succession of long balls. One found the Hogshead centre forward after the bounce went his way past the Lions defender and left Gardner no chance with the shot.
Lion's did the utmost to get back on top. Weeks and Canning having fine efforts on goal.
Not long before half time, Burnage broke away down the left wing to fire a perfect cross into John Harvey's feet. Harvey's composed shot found the back of the net for his second.
2-1 to the Lion's at half time.
In the second half Captain Dye and Bushey were instrumental in driving the Lion's forward sensing more goals.
Harrison and Marlow replaced Burnage and Weeks to help defend the lead as Hogshead battled hard to get something out of the game.
Fildes was outstanding at turning defence into counter attack. Late on in the game Fildes pass found Ian Canning on the right wing, he cut inside and from well outside the box he curled a left foot shot past the outstretched Hogshead keeper into the top corner of the net to ensure Lion's got all the points at 3-1.
