Lion's 0 v 2 Langleybury

Lion's starting eleven: Gardner, French, Fildes, P.Farr, Marlow, Painter, Bushey, Harrison, Burnage, D.Jefferies, Canning. Ref:D.Hucker.

The Lion's reached the quarter finals last year in the Herts Intermediate Cup, and were hoping for a similar run this year starting with today's round 2 tie with Langleybury Cricket Club from Watford.

Breachwood started with the early pressure, with good movement from Jefferies, Canning and Burnage but the Lion's were caught with a sucker punch of goal, when a Lion's attack broke down and Langleybury counter attacked down the right wing and crossed an early ball to the far post for the forward to head past Gardner.

Breachwood continued to attack with strikes at goal from Jefferies and Fildes. French and Farr were solid in defence for the rest of the half, with Farr helping the attacking cause and linking well with Steve Painter.

The Lion's were still in the game at half time and only one nil down.

Early in the second half, substitutes Ali Collins & Dan Dye replaced Harrison and Painter as the Lions pushed to get on level terms. More chances came as Danny Jefferies pass helped Burnage to have a shot at goal. Ben Marlow pushed forward to fire crosses into the Langleybury box.

Gardner easily dealt with Langleybury's shots until late in the game, a cross landed in a crowded Lions penalty area, which the Lion's were unable to clear before a Langleybury attacked found the top left corner of the Breachwood net.

Mark Bushey battled to help Breachwood get something from the game but a scuffle with a Langleybury player after a challenge led to Referee Dave Hucker giving both players a straight red card.

The game finished two nil to Langleybury.

Graham French was the managers man of the match.
