Lions starting eleven: Gardner, Pearson, French, Fildes, Harrison, Dye(C), D.Jefferies, Page, Painter, Canning, P.Crisp
Mr Richardson was today's Referee away to Peartree at Peartree Park.
The pitch was surprisingly hard and the weather very windy which made it difficult for Lions to find their best passing play.
Danny Jefferies and Danny Dye had shots from range, whilst Ian Canning and Pete Crisp hassled the Peartree defence for loose balls in the difficult conditions.
Pearson and Painter combined a couple of times down the left feeding Ian Canning into advance positions up front who was narrowly caught offside.
It was a poorly cleared ball from the right that gave the Peartree midfield the space to put the forward into a shooting position to open the scoring.
Breachwood managed to tighten up after the goal but still went in one nil down at half time.
Breachwood began the second half with more determination with substitutes Pete Jordan and Adam Burnage. Lion's were unlucky not to equalise with a fierce shot from Burnage from inside the penalty area.
The Peartree defence were beaten from with a wonderful passing move involving Dye, Jefferies and Canning down the right with Burnage finishing the move with a trademark curling shot from range into the top right hand corner of the net.
The Lion's gained confidence from the equaliser and felt in ascendancy but were soon set back by a Peartree shot from the leftwing that was wind assisted into the top right hand corner of Gardners net, for 2-1.
Breachwood threw the kitchen sink forward in an effort to get back into the game again but in doing so left themselves a little exposed. Peartree were denied by a first class save from Gardner diving at full stretch to tip the ball onto the bar. French and Fildes assisted in other crucial clearances.
Despite the windy conditions it was a good competitive game but sadly Peartree went home with all the points.
A big thank you to our travelling supporters.
