Breachwood started this Invitation Cup game against Premier Division side Hermit of Redcoats with a goal advantage.
Breachwood started the game well taking the game to Hermit. However Hermit got breakaway counter attack after Lion's lost the ball in midfield and scored to level the tie.
Undeterred Lions pushed forward with a sense of determination. Captain Dye made the killer pass behind the defender for Burnage to run onto.
A composed Burnage curled a sweet shot over the advancing keeper into the top right corner of the net from just inside the box, for the Lion's to regain the lead in the tie.
Pete Farr, French & Fildes stern defending kept Hermit at bay for most of the first half. Gardner was also called upon to make a couple of critical saves.
Ian Canning almost scored as he managed to keep on his feet despite tackles on both sides on the edge of the penalty area. Unfortunately his shot was marginally wide of the goalpost.
Peter Crisp scored for the Lion's but was ruled offside.
Hermit scored their second just before half time.
The second half had all the ingredients of a classic cup match.
Captain Dye had another goal assist after Danny Jefferies weaved the ball to the edge of the Hermit box. Dye's pass into the feet of Peter Crisp meant he could score his first goal for the club from just outside the six yard box.
Hermit were straight back into the game with a headed goal from a corner.
Pearson replaced Weeks with equal strong running down the right wing.
Danny Dye and Danny Jefferies surged the Lions forward from midfield and bombarded the Hermit penalty area. Even Andy Fildes went on a high altitude run that was almost box to box.
Ali Collins replaced an injured Pete Crisp and made an instant impact. He could of had a hatrick inside twenty minutes with three gilt edged chances and a penalty claim turned down.
Harrison's header rebound off the crossbar from Burnages corner.
It was end to end stuff , Pete Farr kept the Lion's in the game when he cleared off the goal line with his head.
It was a true sucker punch when a Hermit striker scored their forth by beating the defender and slipping the ball inside the near post.
Ten Minutes before the end, Goalkeeper Gardner was sent off for verbal against the referee, so Pete Jordan took the Jersey by replacing Pete Farr.
Jordan made a couple of great saves, including tipping a fierce shot onto the crossbar.
The Tie ended 4-3 to Hermit but Lions felt that they had given a good account of themselves and reflected on the missed chances.
Harrison was the Managers Man of the Match
