Invitation Cup: Broadhall 4 v 1 Lion's

Lion's starting eleven: Gardner, French, Fildes, McCartney, Harrison, A.Jefferies, D.Jefferies, Burnage, P.Farr, Canning, Marlow

Today's Invitation Cup game at Shephallbury Park was against Premiership side Broadhall.

Breachwood started the most lively with both the Jefferies brothers having shots from range.
French, Fildles and McCartney made crucial tackles to nullify any Broadhall counter attacks.

However the game turned as Graham French was unlucky to have the ball bounce up and hit his hand in the Lion's penalty area. The referee pointed to the spot. Gardner guess the right way but was unable to keep out strike out of the net.

Lion's were not ready to be beaten yet as they were still level in the tie. Centre forwards Ben Marlow and Ian Canning pull shots off on goal but were straight at the keeper.

Broadhall got their second with a headed goal from a corner not long before half time.

In the second half David Farr replace the Harrison who limped off with a reoccurrence of a thigh injury.

Breachwood nearly got some momentum back when Burnage cut in from the right for a shot at goal. Moments later the Lion's came closer still when Canning and Burnage refused to give up a lost caused near the corner flag and managed to come away with the ball and a pass to Adam Jefferies who whipped the ball across the goal to Pete Farr making the Broadhall keeper save at his feet.

Pete Crisp replaced Pete Farr and chased every ball up front.

Gardner managed to pull off a couple of saves at the other end but didn't stand much of a chance when Broadhall scored two more late on to put the tie beyond doubt. Final score 4-1 to Broadhall.

McCartney was the Managers Man of the Match
