Lion's 2 v 8 Pied Piper

Lion's starting eleven: Gardner, French, Fildes, P.Farr, Jordan, Dye(C), I.Turkentine, D.Jefferies, Canning, Burnage, Harrison.

The Referee for todays game against league leaders Pied Piper was Mr Hall.

Breachwood got off to a bad start. Defender Graham French was running back with the Piper centre forward and got to the ball first but unnfortunately his clearence lobbed keeper Gardner from the 18yard line.

Pied Piper had netted five goals by half time. Lion's main chances had come a Jefferies run and set pieces with a Burnage corner, Turkentine and Fildes coming close with free kicks outside the Piper penalty area.

Despite the half time score line Breachwood managed to regroup and get some better passing moves flowing. Andy Fildes cross found the head of Harrison for the flick on. Captain Dan Dye slotted home to put his team on the scoresheet.

Breachwood's second goal came from a Wayne Gardner goal kick. His kicks had been getting steadily longer during the second half. Gardners kick reached the 18 yard box at the other end of the pitch. Iaian Turkentine won the race of the chasing pack, by jumping between the defender and the Piper goalkeeper to head the subsequent bounce into the Piper goal.

Pied Piper scored three more times in the second half. It could of been several more if it hadn't been for a string of reflex saves by Gardner.

Gordon replaced the injured Canning & Griffin replaced Pete Farr

Despite the result of losing 8-2 Breachwood had played a lot better in the second half and had only lost the second half 3-2!

Substitute not used: D.Farr
