Old Town Wetherspoons 5 v 4 Lion's

Lion's starting eleven: Gardner, P.Farr, French, Jordan, Harrison, Fildes, Griffin, Burnage (C), Weeks, Pearson, Jeffrey

It rained for ninety minutes at Ridlins End. Breachwood played some flowing football, Pete Farr having a crack from range, and John Griffin nearly scooped a goal after the Spoon's keeper spilled the ball.
The pressure paid off when sixteen year old Ed Jeffrey gave Lion's the lead on his starting debut by breaking through and hit the ball low with his right foot into the bottom corner of the Spoon's net.
However the Lion' s concentration dropped for about fifteen minutes, Spoon's took full advantage by quickly netting four goals. Perhaps it could of been more but for the reflexes of Gardner in goal.
Breachwood pulled one back before halftime. Man of the Match Andy Fildes long range free kick found the top corner of the net off the head of Harrison. Spoon's led 4-2 at half time.

Resurgent Lion's came out after the break, Canning relaced Michael Weeks and later in the second half Chad Eldridge replaced Jeffrey and David Farr replaced Griffin in midfield.

Unfortunately, the normally nimble Rob Pearson had deemed to of fouled the Spoons forward in the box for a penalty, which Spoon's converted to extend their lead.

Undeterred Breachwood fought back as a team, Burnage and Canning instrumental in attack.
Hope survived when Graham French drilled in a free kick around the wall from the edge of the area into the bottom corner of the net. The diving head of Harrison met another Fildes free kick to take the score to 5-4.

Young Chad Eldridge had a great opportunity from twenty yards to finish but was unlucky with the ball in the torrid conditions.

Despite the 5-4 result, Breachwood could take heart from their performance.
