Lion's 2 v 1 Pig & Whistle

Lion's starting eleven: French, Jordan, P.Farr, Fildes, Turkentine, D.Dye(C), Hearne, D.Jefferies, Weeks, Canning, Harrison.
Despite losing 14-2 to Pig & Whistle with nine men previously in the season, Breachwood came into todays game with great confidence.
The first half was full of open play at both ends. Breachwood had to defend from the front.
Hearne and Danny Dye carved open some early chances.
Then Captain Dye took up the responsiblity in midfield to allow Danny Jefferies the license to drive forward.

Adam Burnage replaced the injured Pete Farr and added an extra spice to the Lion's attacking formation linking well with Michael Weeks.
Pete Jordan was an outlet at left back when Breachwood defended to keep Pig & Whistle at bay Jordan would quickly find Canning who opened up the left wing for the Lion's.

Just before half time Harrison headed wide a great cross from Pete Jordan.

Nil Nil at Half time

Ben Dye replaced Harrison.

In the 67th minute Pig & Whistle countered, a cross from the left found an unmarked forward whose shot was cleared off the line by Turkentine, but only out as far as Johnston whose shot found the Lion's net.

After going one nil up, Pig seemed to take their foot off the gas. Adam Burnage attacked down the right wing and played a telling pass into the box that allowed substitute Ben Dye to finally beat the off side trap and nip the ball pass the Pig & Whistle goalkeeper and into the bottom corner of the net to justifyably bring Breachwood level.

Minutes later, Danny Jefferies flick on landed in the danger zone between the last defender and the goalkeeper. The keeper tried to claim the ball but wasn't quick enough for the canny Iain Canning who managed to get a toe on the ball to slip it pass the keeper and roll over the goal line to give the Lion's a well fought lead.
Despite suffering with cramp Michael Weeks capped a great performance with neat play at right back.

In the final minutes as P&W pushed hard to get something from the game, The Fildes and Turkentine Centre Back Partnership, were called upon to make several timely tackles and headed clearences.
Then Graham Frenches full stretched save, turning a low shot around the post, saved all the points for the Lion's.
Breachwood won 2-1
