FNM Cup: Lion's 3 v 3 Bottles

Lion's starting eleven: Routledge, French, Hill(C), Jordan, Griffin, Harrison , D.Dye, D.Jefferies, Jeffery, Charlie Anderson, Collins

Breachwood started todays game with a three goal advantage over third in the Premiership side Bottles in their second game in the league phase of Frank Neville Memorial Cup, the renamed Inivitation Cup.

Breachwood rejigged their formation in anticipation that the Premiership side would chase the three goal deficit.

The opening minutes were evenly matched, as the pressure from Bottles increased, the Lion's defended in an organised manner.

Halfway through the first half Bottles were awarded a penalty after Harrison was deemed to of fouled a Bottles forward in the box.

Routledge managed to get a hand to the ball, diving to his left, but unable to prevent the goal.

Dan Dye found Ed Jeffery on the wing to relieve the relentless pressure from Bottles.

Lion's kept their heads with an organised display to keep their 3-1 lead at half time.

In the second half Chad Eldridge replaced Ed Jeffery.

Breachwood continued their defiant defending, Pete Jordan heading off the line from a flicked corner. Griffin & Harrison continued to spoil Bottle attacks in front of the defence. The Lion's managed to gain a breather when Bottles were teased and tantalised by the attacking invention of Ali Colins and Dan Jefferies. Charlie Anderson had a great opportunity.

Bottles got their second goal with shot through a crowd of players from a midfielder.

The last fifteen minutes was pure cup tie stuff with Bottles striving to find the equaliser. Routledge made an instinctive save from close range, Graham French cleared anything coming his way. Captain Hill got his body in the way time after time.

Bottles finally equalised 5 minutes from time.

The final score in this epic cup tie was 3-3.
This game was a great illustration of what this Cup competition is about.
