Proverbial 0 v 2 Lion's
Lions's starting eleven: Harrison, Lewis, Hill, French, A.Jefferies, Dye, D.Jefferies, Turkentine(C), Blondell, Potton, Collins. Todays match referee was Kevin Currey and Breachwood's last league game of the season. Proverbial had an early shot from range turned round the post. At the other end Ali Collins had several chances go barely wide. Simon Blondell had a shot saved. Breachwood's back four did a could job at clearing some long range Proverbial passing. Proverbial had an indirect free kick outside the box which Lion's keeper Harrison left to hit the net as no-one had touched it, which ruled out the goal. Nil nil at half time. After putting his body on the line for the cause Dan Dye went off injured to be replaced by John Griffin who was immediately picking passes in midfield. The Lions had a couple of headers from corners saved on the line by the Proverbial goalkeeper, who also made another telling save with is shot from range. Brendan Hanson replaced Blondell in midfield. Ollie Potton linked well with Adam Jefferies on the wing. Breachwood got the breakthrough fifteen minutes from the end when Ali Collins ran into the box and cut the ball back from a tight angle before he got to the line. The ball went in off the underside of the crossbar, scoring from the most difficult of all the chances he had had in the match. With minutes to go Dan Jefferies weaved into the box only to fouled.
