Having been promoted into Division One, Breachwood started the new season with vigour against MKS Carpentry.
For the first 40 minutes the momentum was with the Lion’s. James
Mason who had switched to right back let rip two great shots that came close
thanks to passes from Taaffe and Hansen. The MKS goalkeeper earned his own MKS man
of the match performance , and it looked as if the early Lion’s pressure would
be in vain until a Capt Turks played an early pass into the space between the
MKS goalkeeper and the last defender. Ollie Mason stormed into the Penalty area
to accept the opportunity to score the Lion’s first goal of the new campaign.
Minutes later Capt Turks corner was met at the far post with a headed goal for debutant Nick Chapman.
However five minutes before half time MKS found the space to
create some confusion in the Lion’s six
yard box to keep the game alive at 2-1 at half time.
The 2nd half was a much more even affair with the Lion’s best chance being a rifled shot for Turkentine that was turned round the post at the last moment.
MKS won a penalty after their forward was clipped by Scott Lewis. The Penalty taker put the ball past new goalkeeper James Drury to level the scores at 2-2. MKS had another penalty appeal turned down.
At the other end Hansen was unable to make the most of a
counter attack to restore the Lion’s lead. Peter Farr replaced Ollie Mason in
the last fifteen minutes.
The game ended 2-2
Lion’s Man of the match was Dan Dye for a sublime midfield performance.
