Lion's 4 v 3 Rileys

Lion's starting eleven: Murrell, Hill, French. A.Jefferies(C), J.Mason, Griffin, Dye,D.Jefferies, O.Mason, Blondell, Taaffe

Pete Murrell was playing his first game in goal for Breachwood today. Breachwood started well. Taaffe had a backheader go just wide, Ollie Mason had a shot. Adam Jefferies ventured forward and Dan Dye instinctively filled in at right back until the move was over. Hill & French paired as centre backs today both showed aerial prowess in dealing with long cross field passes from Rileys.

The Lion's finally opened the scoring with some great link up play in midfield and a quick thinking Dan Jefferies played a lovely ball for Richard Taaffe turning off the defenders shoulder for a clear shot at goal for one nil.

Ollie Mason and Adam Jefferies combined well, ending with Taaffe wrapping his boot round the ball sending it high into the Rileys goal for a two nil lead for the Lion's

Rileys long ball dropped between the the Lion's defence and the keeper. Rileys quick centre forward managed to the get to the ball before goalkeeper Pete Murrell and slid the ball past him. for 2-1

James Mason won the Lion's a corner and took it himself, nicely delivered beyond everyone except for Dan Dye at the far post to head home his first goal of the season.

Simon Blondell carved out a great chance for himself.

Lions led 3-1 at half time.

Rileys had a throw in on the right and a headed bounce went over the head of Murrell into the roof of the net for 3-2.

Centre pin in midfield, John Griffin put in the strong tackles when it mattered to break up any Rileys momentum.

Ollie Mason broke clear down the right and with a low shot across the goalkeeper, the ball hit the inside fo the far post and into the net to extend the Lion's lead to 4-2.

With fifteen minutes remaining Harrison replaced Taaffe.

Rileys pulled another goal back with five minutes remaining, with a low shot through a crowd of player from inside the Lion's penalty area.

Final score Lion's won 4-3. Taaffe was the Lion's man of the match with yet another match winning brace.
