Lion's starting eleven: Drury, French, Turkentine(C), Lewis, J.Mason, Dye, Taaffe, Griffin, A.Jefferies, Hanson, Rees
Chequers had scored an early goal from a flick on, however debutant Martin Rees equalised after going round the Chequers keeper. Breachwood attacked with width thanks to wingers Brendan Hanson & Adam Jefferies but after chances at both ends, the long first half ended 1-1 at half time.
Dan Dye was the midfield dynamo that got Breachwood firing on all cylinders at the beginning of the second half. It paid off when Matin Rees scored his second to give Breachwood the lead before it was extended to 3-1 by Richard Taaffe who is no stranger to the Lion's scoresheet.
Just like last season Chequers fought back to 3-3 with two goals, one unfortunately going in off Lion's defender Graham French. James Drury later saved a stinging shot from Carl Thompson.
Breachwood had plenty left in attack thanks to Captain Turks, and James Mason steaming forward from defence.
The experienced warrior John Griffin picked up a booking for late tackle.
Richard Taaffe picked out the perfect pass deep in midfield to Brendan Hanson out on the right, who chested the ball down before a slide rule pass enabled Martin Rees to complete his hatrick and deliver the Lion's three points.
Final score 4-3
Man of Match: Martin Rees for the debut hatrick.
Substitute not used: Adam Potten
